Michelle Hurchla is a 26-year old working in biomedical research, and towards her Ph.D. at Washington U.

Jamie O'Hare is a 22-year old project coordinator for public health and working on her Master's at Saint Louis U.

How do they spend their afternoons?

"We both beat the crap out of each other on a regular basis," Hurchla says.

O'Hare is the international kick boxing champion. She trains six days a week for three hours. She has never lost a fight, and got into the profession because she had a stalker while she was living in Springfield.

"I felt completely helpless and vulnerable."

But there is nothing helpless about this 5'10, 150-pounder now. In addition to ability, she has the killer instinct. "It is just as much of an adrenalin rush for the girls as it is the guys to get in there and know that you've landed a solid punch."

Hurchla is the North American lightweight kick boxing champion. She, too, is undefeated, and a competition junkie.

"I like feeling stronger than my competition. I like dominating them, I like running them around the ring, putting them in the corner and hitting them hard."

"Outside of the ring and hitting each other, they're very feminine."

But every once in a while, their sport filters over to their job. Hurchla says. "It's a big joke that I've given my department seminars with black eyes."

Josh Fischer, Matt Taff, Robin Connelley, and Mike Green also competed in this tournament. All of them lost to the Winners of the tournament. All of them fought great fights. Matt Taff Fought three fights in this tournament before losing in the finals. A close fight that we just couldn't get the decision on.

Tim Connors fought 3 fights in this tournament, his second fight was one of the most exciting fights in the entire tournament. After being knocked down 2 times in the first round, Tim fought his way back to a draw. This allowing them to fight a fourth round. Tim sucked it up, came out and won a unanimous fourth round decision.
